Cone Beam CT Scans and Dental Radiographs for Dogs and Cats

Much of the dental pathology we see occurs below the gumline. This pathology can’t be seen without radiographic imaging. Dental radiographs, like the “bite wings” your dentist uses, are one type of imaging that we offer. These provide a two dimensional photo of the teeth. We also offer the state-of-the-art technology of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) that allows us to see a 360-degree (think 3D) view of your pet’s jaw and teeth. CBCT can provide early detection of painful dental issues as well as allowing visualization of the nasal cavity, temporo-mandibular joints, and inner and middle ear. An additional benefit of CBCT is evaluation of oral growths and jaw fractures in 3 dimensions.
